Sugar Cookies

Mom's recipe for sugar cookies has been around for a while in our family. She makes them for holidays and often gives a giant sugar cookie for birthdays. They are soft and tasty. Enjoy!

  • 1cup shortening(or butter)

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 4 tbs sour milk (to sour your milk just add a little lemon juice to it)

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 4cups of flour
Cream shorting, sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla. Add baking soda , baking power& salt then mix in flour. Chill for about 4 hours or until very firm. Pre-heat over to 375 degrees. Roll out dough and cut into shapes. Bake for about 7 minutes & check. Cool and frost.
